TORONTO (Hollywood Reporter) - A film about Guatemalan prostitutes who form a soccer team will open the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival on April 28, organizers said Tuesday.

Spanish director Chema Rodriguez's "Estrellas de la Linea" (The Railroad All-Stars), which bowed at the Berlin International Film Festival last month, portrays sex workers in Guatemala banding together on the field to draw attention to the dangers of their work and the daily prejudice they face.

"An issue-oriented work with tremendous personality and emotion, 'The Railroad All-Stars' is the perfect film to carry the documentary flag into the festival," said Sean Farnel, Hot Docs' director of programming.

Hot Docs' 13th installment is set to run April 28-May 7 in Toronto, with the Toronto Documentary Forum market running May 3-4. It will screen 99 documentaries from 23 countries.

Other programming announcements included Larry Weinstein's "Mozartballs," a lighthearted take on composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 250th birthday, being tapped to open the Canadian Spectrum series, a showcase of homegrown documentaries.

Among the 15 world premieres at Hot Docs are director Jean-Daniel LaFond's "American Fugitive: The Truth About Hassan," Ben Addelman and Samir Mallal's "Bombay Calling" and Jesse James Miller and Pete McCormack's "Uganda Rising." Internationally, Hot Docs has programmed the world premiere of "The Beach Boys," Honi Hameagel's Israeli film about Tel Aviv beach bums cruising for women together.

Special Presentations announced Tuesday include the international premieres of British director Nick Broomfield's "His Big White Self"; U.S. filmmaker Shari Cookson's "All Aboard! Rosie's Family Cruise," a chronicle of an ocean cruise hosted by Rosie O'Donnell; and "F---," a tribute to the four-letter expletive by Steve Anderson.

Other U.S.-originated Special Presentations include Patrick Creadon's "Wordplay," a film providing tips from the experts on solving crossword puzzles, and "The World According to Sesame Street," by Linda Goldstein Knowlton and Linda Hawkins Costigan.
